
First Appointment, Ministry of Post and Telegraph
After graduating from Galatasaray Sultanisi, Ken'ân Rifâî enrolled in the Faculty of Law but did not continue and instead started his career as a civil servant.His first place of duty was the Ministry of Post and Telegraph. On November 9, 1888, he was appointed to the Foreign Correspondence Office of the Telegraph and Post Ministry with a salary of one hundred kuruş, and on May 27, 1889, he was appointed as an assistant in the postal department as a clerk and translator with a salary of two hundred and fifty kuruş (BOA: DH.SAİD., 72.405).
After working briefly in the offices of the Sublime Porte, Ken'ân Rifâî began working at the Ministry of Education. Except for this short period at the Sublime Porte, he spent his entire career within the Ministry of Education, serving as a teacher, principal, and inspector.
