Kenan Rifai Exhibition Hall
Kenan Rifai Exhibition Hall
In our exhibition hall, which presents the biographical narrative of Kenan Rifāʿī—one of the prominent late Ottoman Sufis—under the thematic coordination of Dr. Arzu Eylül Yalçınkaya from the Institute for Sufi Studies at Üsküdar University and the curatorship of Burçak Madran, you will encounter the Meşkûre Sargut Collection, honored with sacred relics including the Prophet’s Hair (Sakal-ı Şerîf), the covering of the Prophet’s Tomb (Ravza-i Mutahhara), and the inner and outer cloths of the Kaʿba, all entrusted by the Kerim Foundation, which is registered as a collector with the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts.
In this exhibition hall, you will see and hear excerpts from Ken’ân Rifâî’s 83 years of life full of faith and love, his works, his understanding of Sufism, his identity as an educator and artist. You will witness the richness of the legacy left behind by a guardian who lived in the last period of the Ottoman Empire and the first period of the Republic of Turkey.
All the panels you will see in this hall are organized around certain themes or periods. The panels also include information boxes and drawers. You can examine special objects other than those displayed in the glass showcases by opening the drawers. You can also access some details about the theme that cannot be included in the audio guide on the digital screens you will see in each panel.
